ABC News: ONLY “a short and intense burst of VUV directional radiation”

imageSuzan Clarke with ABC News puts it this way:

According to the Vatican Insider, a project by La Stampa newspaper that closely follows the Catholic church, the experts’ report says, “The double image (front and back) of a scourged and crucified man, barely visible on the linen cloth of the Shroud of Turin has many physical and chemical characteristics that are so particular that the staining which is identical in all its facets, would be impossible to obtain today in a laboratory … This inability to repeat (and therefore falsify) the image on the Shroud makes it impossible to formulate a reliable hypothesis on how the impression was made.”

The centuries-old shroud contains a faint impression of the front and back of a human body, along with blood, dirt and water stains from age.

Many have long questioned the shroud’s authenticity, and others have suggested that it was faked during medieval times.

The Italian researchers, who conducted dozens of hours of tests with X-rays and ultraviolet lights, said that no laser existed to date that could replicate the singular nature of markings on the shroud. They also said that the kind of markings on the cloth could not have come from direct contact of the body with the linen.

Previous investigation has determined the markings could not have come from pigments or dyes.

The Italian scientists said the  marks could only have been made by “a short and intense burst of VUV directional radiation.”

The Italian scientists did not say only “a short and intense burst of VUV directional radiation.” Source: The Shroud of Turin Wasn’t Faked, Italian Experts Say – ABC News

  1. The snowball grow bigger and bigger. In the media, it’s always like that. In 2 weeks, nobody will talk about that no more. Until the next big scoop ! It’s disgusting to see how it is in the media.

  2. I agree….again everything has got out of control but I am afraid this time it is ENEA the one moving everything. I can imagine a reason for that. Italy as well as many other European countries is cutting badgets in all areas and also research. Probably, ENEA gets a lot of many from the government and perhaps they think they can get a reasonable budget for the next year if they become popular……I hope we don´t watch on TV Dr. DiLazzaro explaining the burst of energy (or even better… anything regarding the SHroud)

  3. I think you touch a very good point. No doubt that there’s alot of politics involved in this news coming out !

You know what would be a good suggestion to make for Di Lazarro ? Please, learn 2 simple english words : “No” and “Comment”. It’s easy to say them together. That makes : “No comment” !!! ;-)

  4. C’mon guys! How long have you been around? This stuff has been occurring every couple of years for decades. Someone will come out at Christmas with pro-Shroud news, then at Easter, it’ll be the skeptics turn to refute the Shroud LOL. It’s a neverending fight of wills. The thing is, imho, it doesn’t matter one way or the other, aslong as it helps to heighten awareness of the Shroud. Believe it or not alot of people have never heard of the Shroud, or some have but have no idea what it is. Personally I’d like to see more film on the Shroud on TV, reminiscent of the History channels Real Face of Jesus.

  5. I don’t think they talk about the Shroud is a correct way right now. But, as you said Ron, it’s always like that in the media. At the same time, it doesn’t mean that we must let this happen without saying a word…

    1. Then Yannick, write them! Everyone that your not happy with, write them and give them a piece of your mind. It may take up an excessive amount of your time but it’ll make you feel better inside….Nah! just pulling your leg bro~ It’s a waste of time to worry about all the crap that everyone puts out. Whether it’s thier pseudo-experiments or telegraphs, newscasts, editorials, whatever. You ain’t going to change anything bro. The damage has already been done! No one will take any shroud studies seriously anymore. Unless your a ‘Shroudie’ like us. Most people don’t even acknowledge Ray Roger’s work and paper of 2005! or it’s implications, and that is ‘real’ science. The masses that even bother to check anything out, have been duped. They believe all kinds of rediculous non-factual evidence against the Shroud and won’t even contemplate reading any of the dozens of peer-reviewed papers, which are easily attainable…’s all sad Yannick, but unfortunately true.
