Ben Wiech notes:

Ian Wilson featured what looks like the same mosaic on the back cover of his book, THE SHROUD.

Wilson wrote that the Sanliurfa Museum Director told Wilson that the mosaic was found by a local resident while making structural alterations to his house and this resident sold it to the Sanliurfa Museum no questions asked. It was placed in a museum storeroom and not even on public display. Thereafter, it came to the attention of Dr. Mehmet Onal, an archaeologist, who recognized its importance.

imageWhen I read Wilson’s book, I thought the mosaic was very important and still feel that way. It will be interesting how the seeming conflict on its "discovery" works out.
