Again, that’s Georgia
Jim Hendricks reports in the Albany Herald that Shround Encounter exploring Shroud of Turin coming to Albany church:
It would be hard to find a more debated religious symbol than the Shroud of Turin, which will be on display this spring for the longest period ever in Turin, Italy. For those in the Albany area who are curious about this artifact, St. Teresa’s Catholic Church has a pair of presentations of a program called “Shroud Encounter.”
Hendricks quotes Russ Breault in a telephone interview saying:
My position has always been I don’t know if the shroud is authentic. I just think it could be and let’s explore the mystery and find out what we know and find out what we don’t know. As we explore the mystery, we’re also going to encounter the message of the shroud. (emphasis mine)
Russ, whose presentations are always excellent, is a frequent contributor to this blog. More than that, a 15 minute video, Russ Breault explains his take on the Shroud of Turin is featured in the upper-right column space of this blog.

Russ Breault posts on the Shroud Encounter Facebook page:
Anyone near Cleveland, Ohio? I will be at Cuyahoga Community College–East Campus on Thursday 11/20 at 12:00 Noon. It will be in room 2410 in the Student Services Bldg. The presentation is "THE DAY THE SHROUD FOILED HITLER" and documents his obsession with the occult and how he obtained the Spear of Destiny from Austria, his search for the Holy Grail and ultimately his attempt to steal the Shroud. From 1939 to 1946 the cloth was taken to a Benedictine monastery 150 miles south of Rome and hidden inside an altar. The Nazis came looking for it first in Turin in April of 1943 and later in September at the monastery…but they never found their prize. How did it happen? Come hear the untold story!
These Shroud Encounter presentations are getting big, like this one at The Villages in Florida.
The Ragin’ Cajun Catholics website, a TV station and a newspaper are reporting that Russ Breault will also be doing his big presentation at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette:
SHROUD ENCOUNTER will be coming to the Catholic Student Center at Our Lady of Wisdom Church on Thursday, October 23rd at 6:30 PM. The center is located at 501 East Mary Blvd in Lafayette. Admission is free and the event is open to the public. A museum quality life-size replica of the Shroud of Turin will be on display. National Geographic called the Shroud "One of the most perplexing enigmas of modern times." Shroud Encounter will cover all aspects of the history, science, art and theories of how the image may have been formed.
Russ Breault is taking Shroud Encounter to Lady Lake, Florida, this coming Sunday, October 19th. If you are in The Villages or the surrounding area, do make a point of seeing this presentation. It is, as the poster below says, an unforgettable experience.
by a long shot
It started tonight with a multiscreen “Shroud Encounter” presentation by Russ Breault.
The Post-Dispatch story by Lilly Fowler about the conference was syndicated on Religion News Services (RNS). It was picked up by the national paper, Huffington Post as The Unsolved Mystery Behind The Shroud Of Turin Still Has The Power To Captivate. The Washington Post and at least forty other news outlets, large and small, also picked up the story.
