Hampton, Va: TNCC hosts Shroud of Turin lecture Tuesday

If you are going to be in Hamton, Va, Oct 5, the Thomas Nelson Community College is hosting a lecture on the shroud of Turin. Here are some details:

Retired NASA researcher Ed Prior, a Poquoson resident, will lead a faculty colloquium titled "Scientific Investigation of the Shroud of Turin" at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Mary T. Christian Auditorium.

The Shroud of Turin is an ancient linen cloth believed to reflect the image of the crucified Jesus Christ.

NASA personnel made several personal contributions to studies of the cloth in 1978 and to its carbon dating in 1988. Prior was among millions of people who saw the famous cloth on display in Turin earlier this year, according to TNCC.

During his 40-year career with NASA, Prior worked on several notable research projects, including global greenhouse warming and ozone variations in the atmosphere.
