MUST ATTEND BSTS MEETING: Davor Aslanovski (pictured) has signaled, through Meetup, that he will be attending the British Society for the Turin Shroud meeting in Beaconsfield, England on Sunday, October 21, 2012 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. With Thomas De Wesselow, author of "The Sign", as a featured speaker, this should make for a very interesting meeting.
Too bad South Carolina is so far away.
IDEA: Why not video record the presentations and discussions and put them on YouTube. They would get a lot of attention if promoted in the various Shroud of Turin blogs.
This will make the meeting even more interesting, something that has not happened in the realm of Shroud studies for a long time.
Why on earth would you announce my attendance like this? (Or at all?)
I sense a bit of paranoia in your words Davor. You gotta learn to chill. ;-)

Because you are something of a celebrity who disagrees with Thomas? Maybe because it was a slow news day?
Slow news day!
And like the six blind men of ancient India, all the experts will examine the elephant, and no doubt come up with a camel! Some say there were seven, but In the version by John Godfrey Saxe (1816-87) there were only six (it scans better that way):
It was six men of Indostan
To learning much inclined,
Who went to see the Elephant
(Though all of them were blind),
That each by observation
Might satisfy his mind
And so these men of Hindustan
Disputed loud and long,
Each in his own opinion
Exceeding stiff and strong,
Though each was partly in the right
And all were in the wrong
So oft in theologic wars,
The disputants, I ween,
Rail on in utter ignorance
Of what each other mean,
And prate about an Elephant
Not one of them has seen.
Hahaha, nice one Dave. :-)

I think we all owe Dave Rolfe a big thank you for resurrecting BSTS. I am a bit confused, however. BSTS seems to have two home pages, one at Dave’s blog and another one at shroud.com. If I visit the BSTS home page at http://shroud.com/bstsmain.htm I see that the President and Patron is the Baroness Ryder of Warsaw and the Chairman is Rodney Hoare, Isn’t that a bit out of date?
Good catch! The page you referenced was scheduled to be updated in our January 21, 2013 17th anniversary update. It was one of the original html pages provided to us by BSTS member Chris Jones back in 1996 and has never been updated. Our primary focus over the past year or two has been to complete the scanning and ocr of all the back BSTS issues, and the last of these will go online in January. We will also be adding pdf versions of all the old, html-only issues (#43 through #48) at that time. But since you brought it up, the page in question has now been updated.
As for the confusion over the “home page,” I believe David’s page is an excellent means of the BSTS getting news out quickly and serves a very good purpose in giving people advance notice on things like meetings and lectures. However, shroud.com is more of a permanent archive and long term reference library and does not try to be a “daily news blog.” We have been providing an internet presence for the BSTS since 1996. Try searching for “British Society for the Turin Shroud” on Google.
